Prior to 1956, the V.I. boys turned out in full to watch the Annual
Sports from the grass slopes. In the centre of the field, sports officals
pore over the latest results carried by Scout runners to tally the House
points that will determine the relative positions of the coloured balls
hanging from the pole. (circa 1955).
